Bridget Brink, veteran diplomat earlier serving in Tbilisi, nominated as US ambassador to Ukraine

President Joe Biden has nominated career diplomat Bridget Brink as the US  new ambassador to Ukraine, to the position which has been vacant for more than a year. 

 

Brink has held the position of US ambassador to Slovakia since July 2019. 

 

With more than two decades in the foreign service, Brink has focused largely on Europe and Eurasia.

 

She was appointed to her current post by former US President Donald Trump, and most recently served as deputy assistant secretary of state in the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs at the Department of State.

 

Brink  was also deputy chief of mission at the US embassies in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, from 2014 to 2015, and in Georgia, from 2011 to 2014.
