A car belonging to a Ukrainian refugee from Luhansk was robbed in the Gldani district, outskirts of Tbilisi, yesterday.

Elizaveta Filatova says that everything has been stolen from the car, including footwear and devices worth 6,500 USD.

She says that she had arrived in Georgia for safety, while now she does not feel safe.

“I would have never thought that someone could have robbed a refugee who had escaped the hell,” Filatova said.

She claimed that initially police did not pay enough attention due to a language barrier and told her that they would contact later.

“We reported [about the incident] to the police at 15:00 (yesterday). They did not approach the car, nor did they take fingerprints. They said that they needed an interpreter. Since the information went viral, the police contacted me at 12:00 a.m.,” she said.

Filatova arrived in Georgia with her family on March 28. They  rented an apartment on Vasadze Street in Gldani for several days.

The Interior Ministry told RFE / RL that an investigation had been launched into the incident.
