In response to the upcoming celebrations, Mikheil Sarjveladze, Chairman of the Human Rights and Civil Integration Committee of the Parliament, on Friday issued a series of safety recommendations concerning the use of pyrotechnics. While encouraging citizens to explore alternative means of expressing joy for New Year, Sarjveladze recognized that some may opt for pyrotechnics and emphasized the importance of adhering to strict safety measures.
Underlining the potential risks associated with pyrotechnic usage, Sarjveladze’s recommendations include:
Check the Age: Exercise caution when purchasing pyrotechnics and avoid using old materials due to the increased risk.
Read Terms and Conditions: Thoroughly familiarize yourself with the terms and conditions of use before igniting any pyrotechnic devices.
Supervise Adults: Minimize adult usage of pyrotechnics and ensure they are not handled independently.
Avoid Burning State: Refrain from using pyrotechnics in a burning state to mitigate potential hazards.
Use Protective Gear: Anyone in the vicinity should wear protective glasses when pyrotechnics are in use.
Avoid Simultaneous Ignition: Do not attempt to light several pyrotechnic units simultaneously.
Secure Stationary Use: When using pyrotechnics, securely fix them in a stationary position and avoid holding them.
No Indoor Use: Never light pyrotechnics in closed spaces to prevent accidents and injuries.
Maintain Distance: Keep a considerable distance from other individuals, houses, and flammable substances during pyrotechnic use.
Safe Retreat: Once stationary and securely fixed, move away from the pyrotechnic material to a safe distance.
In the message, Sarjveladze called upon citizens to display responsibility and prioritize the environment, health, and safety of themselves, family members, and relatives during the festive season.
