Charge d’affaires of Ukraine in Georgia Andrey Kasyanov says that his country’s Ambassador to Georgia Igor Dolgov, who was recalled by President Volodymyr Zelensky earlier this month for consultations, ‘is psychically in Tbilisi and the consultations are on the final stage.’

The Ukrainian government was unhappy by Tbilisi’s refusal to impose sanctions on Russia for its invasion of Ukraine and the refusal to allow sending of volunteer fighters from Tbilisi international airport. These were the reasons for which  Zelensky recalled Dolgov.

Kasyanov said today that the Georgian government will be informed when the consultations are over and Dolgov returns to office.

The Georgian Government says that imposing sanctions on Russia would be harmful for Georgian citizens, while sending volunteers from Tbilisi to Kyiv would be a direct involvement in the Russia-Ukraine war.

The Georgian government says that the country has stood by Ukraine in all international resolutions and platforms and is active to ensure humanitarian aid.
