Chechen blogger Abdurakhmanov alive, under Swedish police protection – media

Chechen opposition blogger Tumso Abdurakhmanov is alive and under Swedish police protection, Kavkaz Reali has reported based on the spokesperson of the exiled government of the Republic of Chechnya – Ichkeria.

Information about the possible murder of a Chechen blogger was spread by several sources last week.

The respondent cited “his own sources of information” and could not specify why Abdurahmanov could be under police protection.

Kavkaz Reali also contacted the Swedish police for an official comment.

“We cannot add anything to our previous comment,” the police press office told the publication.

Before the news of Abdurahmanov’s murder was reported, the Swedish police said that they could not confirm the mentioned reports or make any additional comments.

A Chechen human rights organization in Sweden Vayfond had reported they were unable to contact the blogger, before the reports on his death.
