A 6-year-old child, who was transported from Georgia’s Russian-occupied Abkhazia region to the Tbilisi-controlled territory earlier this week, died in Batumi clinic of western Georgia on Thursday.

The child underwent initial examinations and received assistance at the referral clinic in Zugdidi. However, given the absence of a pediatric resuscitation department in any clinic in Zugdidi, the minor was subsequently transferred to Batumi.

Doctors said the child experienced polyorgan failure, severe respiratory distress, and cardiovascular system failure.

Medical professionals note that the child’s hospitalization was delayed, and a thorough examination will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.

The body of the minor has already been transferred to occupied Abkhazia.
