Club owners have urged landlords ‘not to obey the government,’ and clubbers to ‘unite’ for clubs to continue work despite the temporary ban to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
Main clubs across the country say in a joint statement that if they remain closed after a two year pause, this will be ‘their end.’
The clubs expected the government would allow them to hold events starting the week. However, this did not happen.
The state agencies say that negotiations are still required with the clubs to ensure their opening will not cause a surge in daily infections, especially when a new variant of coronavirus dubbed as Omicron has already been reported.
The clubs say that the government’s position is ‘unfair’ as the authorities ‘have announced various New Year events’ in Tbilisi and in the regions.
They say that they are receiving visitors ‘in accordance with Covid regulations’ despite the absence of an official consent for this.
