Jake Sullivan, the national security advisor to President Joe Biden, on Monday said the Congress failure to approve a new large-scale aid package for Ukraine had affected the country’s national interests.

“It’s already affecting our ability to give Ukraine everything it needs. That effect will only increase over time,” Sullivan said.

Sullivan noted that the US Congress should accept the President’s request, which includes aid to Ukraine and Israel, as soon as possible, as it directly affects US national interests.

The Biden administration sent a request for funding to Israel, Ukraine, the Indo-Pacific region, as well as strengthening the border.

“We have detailed everything we need, including for Ukraine. We need it as soon as possible,” Sullivan said.

He stressed the government was “actively working” with Republicans and Democrats in both houses of the US Congress to ensure support for this initiative.
