Coronavirus cases on upward trend in Georgia

In the last one week, 2.4 percent more people contracted coronavirus than in the previous week, the National Center for Disease Control said on Tuesday.

 

For the first time in recent weeks, the seven-day positivity rate was above four percent (4.05%).

 

2,570 people contracted the virus between June 27 and July 3, while the figure stood at 1,056 between June 20 and 26.

 

63,443 tests were conducted in the last week. Three people died from the virus and 1,103 recovered.

 

NCDC said that the Omicron B.A.2 strain was dominant in the country.

 

Georgia has confirmed 1,662,299 cases of coronavirus since February 26, 2020.

 

The virus has claimed 16,844 lives so far.
