Court sentences husband of wife’s brutal murder in Georgia to life imprisonment

Rustavi City Court in central Georgia has rendered its verdict, fully endorsing the evidence put forth by the prosecutor’s office and declaring the defendant culpable of the deliberate slaying of his wife with exceptional brutality, motivated by gender-based animosity, in Bolnisi.

“The evidence meticulously scrutinized during the trial unequivocally established that on September 26, 2023, in Bolnisi, the accused, driven by jealousy and vindictiveness, fatally stabbed his wife in the presence of their minor children, fueled by gender-based intolerance. Tragically, the victim succumbed to her injuries on the scene,” elucidated the court statement.

The accused was apprehended by law enforcement personnel on September 30 and subsequently charged with gender-related crimes, egregious cruelty, and premeditated homicide of a family member.

Consequent to a thorough examination of the evidence and legal deliberations, the court has pronounced the accused guilty on all counts and decreed life imprisonment as the requisite form and magnitude of punishment, as announced by the prosecutor’s office.
