The Georgian Constitutional Court has been scheduled to announce its ruling on President Salome Zourabichvili’s impeachment on Monday, the court chair, Merab Turava, said on Friday.
He noted the ruling would be read out in the court’s hall, as part of procedures in the institution.
The ruling Georgian Dream party addressed the court to reveal its ruling on the issue last month, accusing the President of violating the country’s constitution through her recent visits to Europe without the Government’s authorisation.
The President denied the claims and said her visits aimed at facilitating the country’s obtaining the EU membership candidate status later this year, citing the country’s main law, which obliges the officials to take steps for Georgia’s Euro-Atlantic integration.
If the court approves the allegations, a vote will be held in the legislative body.
The ruling party, which currently occupies more than 80 seats, will need at least 100 votes in the 150-member Parliament to dismiss Zourabichvili.
