Covid daily cases decrease in Georgia, while death rate remains high

Georgia has reported 1,976 new cases of coronavirus out of 43,029 tests, 3,076 recoveries and 78 deaths in the past 24 hours. 

30,970 remain infected with Covid-19 in Georgia as of today.

920,617 cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in Georgia since February 26, 2020, of which 876,254 patients have recovered, while 13,367 have died from the virus.

The new cases for Tbilisi and regions are as follows:

Tbilisi – 969 cases 

Adjara – 145 cases 

Imereti – 246 cases 

Kvemo Kartli – 88 cases 

Shida Kartli – 117 cases 

Guria – 55 cases 

Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti – 117 cases 

Kakheti – 119 cases 

Mtskheta-Mtianeti – 57 cases 

Samtskhe-Javakheti – 40 cases 

Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti – 23 cases

A total of 5,195 patients are undergoing treatment in hospitals as of today. 

1,111,336 people have been fully vaccinated in the country since March 2021. 

Georgian health officials expect that daily cases will surge in the country as the coronavirus Omicron strain has already been reported.
