Daily Covid cases in Georgia hit record high 8,728

Georgia has reported 8,728 new cases of coronavirus over the past 24 hours which is a record high figure since the country confirmed its first case of the virus in February 2020.  

 

The surge in new infections is related to the Omicron strain of the virus which is spreading in the country rapidly, already reaching more than 1,200.  

 

8,545 individuals recovered from the virus and 43 died in the country in the past 24 hours. 

 

In total, the virus has killed 14,555 individuals since April 2020.  

 

The new cases for Tbilisi and regions are as follows:  Tbilisi – 4,797 cases, 

 

Adjara – 1,184, 

Imereti – 859, 

Kvemo Kartli – 302, 

Shida Kartli – 429,

Guria – 186,

Samegrelo – Zemo Svaneti – 289,

Kakheti – 339,

Mtskheta-Mtianeti – 176, 

Samtskhe-Javakheti – 138,
