Daily Covid cases still surge in Georgia, standing at 24,616

Georgia has reported 24,616 new cases of coronavirus in the past 24 hours out of 73,251 tests.

The total number of confirmed cases since the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic in the country in February 2020 is 1,350,454.

The daily positivity rate as of yesterday is 33.61%, for the last 14 days – 28.31% and for seven days – 31.86%.18,221 people recovered from the virus in the last 24 hours, while the total number of people recovered increased to 1,124,442.

54 new deaths have been reported in 24 hours. 

A total of 15,300 people have died from the virus since April 2020.

The new cases for Tbilisi and regions are as follows: 

Tbilisi – 11,801, 

Adjara – 2,187, 

Imereti – 3,382, 

Kvemo Kartli – 1,265, 

Shida Kartli – 1,418, 

Guria – 657,

Samegrelo – Zemo Svaneti – 1,577, 

Kakheti – 1 114,

Mtskheta-Mtianeti – 697, 

Samtskhe-Javakheti – 380, 

Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti – 138.

210, 686 remain infected with the virus as of today. 

Omicron accounts for the majority of new infections.
