Following a request from the Georgian Prosecutor General’s Office, G.P., wanted under Interpol’s Red Notice for aggravated murder, was extradited to Georgia from Russia.
The suspect is accused of committing murder under aggravating circumstances.
The Prosecutor General’s Office on Wednesday said the investigation determined that on February 18, 2025, G.P. physically and verbally assaulted the victim in a residential apartment on Bezhan Kalandadze Street in Tbilisi, resulting in life-threatening injuries that caused the victim’s death at the scene. Following the incident, the suspect and others present fled.
Immediately after the crime, legal procedures were initiated to locate the suspect internationally. G.P. was sought under Interpol’s Red Notice from March 4, 2025, and intensive international efforts by the Georgian Prosecutor General’s Office led to his extradition from Russia on February 2, 2026, the agency said.
The Prosecutor’s Office noted that three individuals were promptly arrested in connection with failure to report a particularly serious crime, while one initially evaded capture. All four were later found guilty - two received 4 years and 3 months imprisonment, one received 5 years, and the fugitive suspect was sentenced to 7 years, with international searches ongoing.
