The Danish government and parliament have reached a consensus on the potential deployment of troops to Ukraine as part of a future peace settlement, according to Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen and Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen.

As reported by DR, the ministers met with members of the parliamentary Foreign Policy Committee to discuss the government’s position on sending peacekeeping forces to Ukraine. The proposal received broad support from across the political spectrum.

“It is important that we send the right signals to both Putin and Washington. That is what we are doing today by stating: ‘If a ceasefire or peace agreement requires a European presence, Denmark is, in principle, ready for it,'” Rasmussen said.

Poulsen clarified that there are no concrete plans yet for troop deployment. “We have not made any specific commitments; it will depend on how the situation develops,” the Danish defense minister explained.

Recent media reports indicate that Europe is working on a plan to send troops to Ukraine, with estimates suggesting that European countries could deploy up to 30,000 soldiers for such a mission.
