Georgian political expert Davit Chikhelidze has strongly criticized the official stance of Kyiv towards Georgia, accusing Ukraine and its President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of failing to "adequately appreciate Georgia’s support" amid the ongoing war.

In a recent social media post, Chikhelidze called Ukraine’s treatment of Georgia “shameful,” claiming that despite Georgia’s early and consistent assistance to Ukraine, Kyiv continues to focus on criticizing the Georgian government.

“It is shameful how Ukraine, under Zelenskyy’s leadership, treats Georgia. The country does not properly value the support extended by the Georgian state. On the contrary, Ukraine is constantly engaged in criticizing the Georgian government — even though Georgia was among the first to offer a helping hand,” Chikhelidze wrote.

He went as far as accusing Zelenskyy’s administration of behaving like a “fascist group” in its rhetoric towards Georgia, calling their criticism the “height of immorality.”

Chikhelidze emphasized that Georgia has offered Ukraine substantial support without expecting anything in return, including political backing, humanitarian aid, and integration support for Ukrainian refugees.

He stressed that Georgia supported every international resolution backing Ukraine and aligned itself with international and national sanctions against Russia.

"Georgia was the first country to launch Ukrainian-language education sectors in schools, employing Ukrainian teachers and accommodating over 3,000 students — a program that cost the Georgian budget over 20 million GEL," he added.

The expert went on that the government covered rental costs for Ukrainian refugees, allocating over 27 million GEL from the state budget.

He added that Ukrainians were provided with full medical services funded by the Georgian government and at the same time Georgia was among the top contributors in humanitarian aid to Ukraine in terms of volume.

“This is just a partial list of the support Georgia has offered Ukraine,” Chikhelidze noted. “In light of this, the continuous attacks and criticism from Zelensky’s so-called fascist group represent an outrageous moral low.”
