David Katsarava, Akia Barbakadze, and Kakha Gogidze announced their departure from the political alliance Chven (We). Katsarava made the statement on social media on Monday, explaining that the decision was driven by differing strategic visions regarding the current political developments and the approach to the pre-election campaign.

Katsarava mentioned that two months ago, a coalition was formed between several opposition groups, including the political party Free Choice – New Alternative, the anti-occupation movement Strength in Unity, the civil movement Regions for Georgia, and the movement The Path of Rustaveli. This alliance aimed to offer an alternative to the public and attract new voters in opposition to the current government in the pre-election period.

“The alliance ran in the election campaign under the name Chven as party #23. However, due to disagreements over the strategy and methods of participating in the pre-election process, we three decided to leave the alliance and continue our fight against the ruling authoritarian regime independently of the party,” Katsarava’s post reads.

He emphasized that the fight for democratic values and the country’s correct development will continue, expressing confidence in the eventual defeat of the current government.
David Katsarava had introduced the political team Chven and its members on August 23.
