De facto Abkhazia opens crossing point with rest of Georgia

The de facto authorities of Georgia’s Russian-occupied Abkhazia region on Monday opened the only crossing point with the rest of Georgia. 

According to the Radio Liberty, citizens can now travel both ways, via the Enguri bridge, which connects the villages of the occupied Gali district with the Zugdidi municipality, and the Saberio-Pakhulani checkpoint, which is located on the administrative boundary line of the Gali district of Abkhazia and the Tsalenjikha municipality of Samegrelo.

The opening of the checkpoint was confirmed by Tamar Belkania, the deputy mayor of Tsalenjikha municipality.

The de facto authorities closed the checkpoint earlier this week, without providing explanations.
