The Georgian government implemented unprecedented political, legal, and administrative changes during the 2024 pre-election period that limit political competition, according to Daniel Twining, President of the International Republican Institute (IRI).
“On October 26, Georgia held its 11th nationwide election since gaining independence. The government’s sweeping political, legal, and administrative changes ahead of the election restricted political competition,” Twining stated.
He added that these maneuvers create an unfair environment for electoral participants before the election even begins.
