Georgian citizen illegally arrested by occupation forces released - State Security Service

The Georgian State Security Service on Thursday said Mevlud Lagoshvili, a Georgian citizen who was recently, illegally detained near the village of Gvirgvina, central Georgia, by the Russian-controlled occupation forces, has been released.

The body claimed the hotline mechanism and “all other tools” at the disposal of the central Government had been “immediately activated” to release the man.

“The issue of his release from illegal detention was actively discussed in the village of Ergneti, Gori Municipality, at the 115th meeting of the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism (IPRM) format held yesterday”, the SSS said.  It stressed “responsibility for all destructive actions carried out in the occupied regions of Georgia and along the occupation line rests with the occupying power”, and added the central Government, together with international partners, “continues to work actively to release all citizens of Georgia who are illegally imprisoned in the occupied territories [of Abkhazia and Tskhinvali]”.
