The Georgian Orthodox Church and Orthodox believers worldwide are marking the feast of the Annunciation on 7 April, one of the most significant dates in the liturgical calendar.

According to the Gospel, the feast commemorates the moment when the Archangel Gabriel appeared to the Virgin Mary in the city of Nazareth, bringing the news that she would give birth to the Son of God and the Saviour of humanity.

The Annunciation is regarded as one of the major feasts of the Church and holds particular theological importance, marking the beginning of the Incarnation.
