Officers of the Adjara Main Division of the Central Criminal Police Department of Georgia's Ministry of Internal Affairs, in cooperation with the Customs Department of the Revenue Service under the Ministry of Finance, have arrested a Turkish citizen on charges of illegally purchasing, possessing and importing a large quantity of narcotics into Georgia.
The law enforcement officers seized a large quantity of the narcotic substance cocaine, packaged in a single bundle, during a personal search of the suspect at the Sarpi customs checkpoint.
The offences are punishable by up to 12 years in prison.
