Georgia’s Investigation Service under the Ministry of Finance has detained two Turkish citizens accused of selling a large quantity of counterfeit Georgian excise stamps.

According to the agency, the arrests followed a series of operational and investigative actions. The suspects allegedly sold 2,000 counterfeit excise stamps for a payment of 1,000 US dollars, with the intent of obtaining illegal financial gain.

Authorities confirmed that all of the fake excise stamps have been seized as evidence.

The investigation is being conducted under Article 200¹, Part 2 of Georgia’s Criminal Code, which prescribes a prison sentence ranging from four to six years for the illegal sale of counterfeit excise marks.
