A senior figure from Georgia’s ruling party has criticised opposition politicians and civil society activists following reports of an alleged leaked document originating from Brussels.

Dimitri Samkharadze, the regional secretary of Georgian Dream, wrote on social media on Thursday that the incident surrounding the document had discredited the opposition. “Given today’s scandal and what burst open, the 28 November rally should deservedly be called the ‘Agents and Slaves Rally”, Samkharadze said.

His comments followed a report by the outlet Prime Time, which claimed that local opposition groups had received a document directly from specific EU officials in Brussels. According to the report, opposition representatives were preparing to read the text out loud at a rally “word-for-word” within minutes of receiving it.
