The Georgian Dream ruling party (GD) says that they are ready to visit Ukraine amid the ongoing war with Russia there if Kyiv fulfills several preconditions one of which is the dismissal of the chair of President Volodymyr Zelenky’s parliamentary faction David Arakhamia, who is one of the negotiators in peace talks with Russia.

The GD head Irakli Kobakhidze says that Arakhamia is ensuing contacts between the members of the Georgia “radical opposition” who currently hold state posts in Ukraine and the Ukrainian authorities, noting that the individuals are trying to spark problems in the state -to -state relations.

“Unfortunately, Ukraine has taken several offensive steps recently which include the recall of the ambassador and accusing Georgia of aiding Russian smuggling. When wuch allegations are raised, they must be backed by evidence or dismissed. No evidence has been provided so far,” Kobakhidze has stated.

He said that the root of the problems were the members of the United National Movement (UNM) opposition party and the former UNM officials who are currently holding high posts in Ukraine.

Kobakhidze stated that the politicians included currently imprisoned former President of Georgia

Mikheil Saakashvili who chairs the Executive Committee of the Ukrainian Reforms  Council,  Zurab Adeishvili, the advisor to the Prosecutor General of Ukraine, Gia Lortkipanidze, deputy head of Ukraine’s Counterintelligence Agency “and Arakhamia, who ensures the connection between them and the Ukrainian government.”

Adeishvili, former prosecutor general of Georgia and Gia Lortkipanidze, former law enforcement official are wanted by Georgian law enforcement agencies.

“When we see progress in these areas, naturally we can think about a high-level parliamentary visit  to  Ukraine,” Kobakhidze said.

The Ukrainian Rada chair invited his Georgian colleague, along with other colleagues, to visit Bucha in the wake of Russian atrocities there. However, Shalva Papuashvili refused to accept the invitation, citing the controversies over the ambassador and smuggling allegations.
