Doctor, cardiologist Zurab Paghava has left the medical council which was created shortly before to assess the health condition of Georgia’s former president Mikheil  Saakashvili and provide recommendations.

Paghava claims that he left the council of doctors due to deteriorated health after contracting Covid-19.

A couple of days ago he said that the medical council recommended Saakashvili’s transfer to a multi-profile civil  hospital.

Georgian health officials, however, say that Saakashvili’s health on the 25th day of hunger strike is satisfactory, and state that if Saakashvili accepts he will be taken to a prison clinic for additional treatment which is ‘well-equipped.’

However, Saakashvili, who returned to Georgia after eight years in political exile to change the Georgian Dream leadership, is against his treatment in a prison clinic.
