Personal doctor of arrested third president of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili, Nikolz Kipshidze, says that the former president is in need of a psychologist and a psychiatrist after calling off his 50-day hunger strike.
A state council of doctors, which has been monitoring Saakashvili’s health in prison, says that the former president is in a stable condition. However, they say that two-three days after calling off a hunger strike is critical.
Saakashvili accepted the transfer to Gori military hospital from Gldani Prison No.18 hospital at the end of the last week and suspended his hunger strike.
Saakashvili, who was convicted in absentia in Georgia for abuse of power in 2018, says he returned after eight years in political exile to remove the Georgian Dream government from power.
He has also been charged with five other offences, including illegal seizure of property, illegal rally dispersal, illegally crossing the border, embezzlement and abuse of authority.
All the cases are pending.
