The investigation determined that on 8 November, in Kvareli, a domestic dispute escalated into a physical altercation

Police in Georgia’s Kakheti region have arrested three individuals, including senior local government officials, on charges of assault, the Ministry of Internal Affairs said on Tuesday.

Those detained are 39-year-old Nika Zautashvili, 42-year-old Givi Zautashvili, and 44-year-old Levan Geladze. Geladze serves as the Deputy Mayor of Kvareli, while Givi Zautashvili is the Chairman of the Kvareli Municipal Assembly. 

The investigation determined that on 8 November, in Kvareli, a domestic dispute escalated into a physical altercation. During the confrontation, Nika Zautashvili allegedly struck Levan Geladze in the face with a blunt object, causing injury.

Police arrested all three individuals as suspects.

The investigation is being conducted under Article 126 of Georgia’s Criminal Code, which pertains to violence.
