An eight-month-old Ukrainian baby who has undergone heart surgery at Jo Ann University Hospital of Tbilisi was discharged on Wednesday.

The hospital staff said goodbye to the patient and his parents holding Ukrainian and Georgian flags, in solidarity with the war-torn country.

The family of the child arrived in Batumi, coastal Georgia before the war and were unable to return back due to hostilities.

The operation, which was scheduled to take place in Kyiv in March, was canceled due to the war. Instead, medical services were provided at Jo Ann University Hospital.

The patient has stayed in hospital postoperatively over the past two weeks.

The operation expenses have been fully covered by Jo Ann University Hospital.
