Eka Beselia, founder of the Justice House, has warned that every new decision by the ruling Georgian Dream party exacerbated critical assessments from the European Parliament.

Beselia noted that the Council of Europe closely monitors developments in Georgia.

“I am very familiar with the work of the Council of Europe’s Assembly - they observe ongoing processes, laws, and everything happening in Georgia. They are fully aware that the country has political prisoners.

The European Parliament’s report highlights, among other issues, the use of chemical weapons. It is important for citizens to understand that when the Parliament says the country’s backsliding is extremely concerning, and no other candidate country has received such a critical report, it means that every subsequent decision by Georgian Dream worsens these assessments,” Beselia said.
