Elene Khoshtaria, one of the leaders of the Coalition for Change, has accused the Georgian Government of endangering citizens' health and vowed to cooperate fully with any international investigation into alleged poisoning cases.

In a letter released on Friday from prison Khoshtaria said the authorities had “quietly poisoned their own people,” concealed medical information from doctors and were now engaged in “shameful and incompetent attempts” to save themselves.

Khoshtaria recalled that, following the dispersal of the “Russian Law” protests last year, she suffered a sudden and severe collapse of her immune system, requiring complex medical procedures in Turkey.

She said the incident triggered four acute illnesses, intense pain, extreme weakness and long periods of incapacity.

“The cause of my endless illness remains undiagnosed and one of the doctors’ theories is intoxication - something impossible to treat without knowing the exact toxic substance,” she wrote, adding that she also experienced skin burns, vomiting and prolonged spikes in blood pressure after last year’s demonstrations.

“I will testify before every organization, every international investigation, every competent person. I will share all 1,000 pages of my medical examinations. This is what we all must do. The regime cannot justify the evil it has committed. We will take this case to the very end,” she said.
