Elina Valtonen, a Finnish Foreign Minister, has voiced her disappointment with the Georgian government’s decision to suspend its EU accession negotiations, calling the move contrary to the will of the Georgian people. In a tweet, Valtonen emphasized that the future of Georgia lies in a free and democratic society and strongly condemned any violent actions taken against peaceful protesters. She reaffirmed her belief that Georgia is part of Europe, despite the recent setback in its EU integration process.

”Disappointed by the decision of the Georgian government to halt their EU process – against the people’s will. We still see the Georgian people’s future in a free and democratic society. Strongly condemn any violent action against peaceful protesters. Georgia is Europe,” she wrote on X.

This statement comes as Georgia continues to face widespread protests against the government’s decision to delay EU talks until 2028, a move that has sparked significant domestic and international concern.
