Elon Musk’s Starlink enters Georgia

Starlink, founded by Elon Musk’s SpaceX company, received authorization from the Georgian Communications Commission on Friday to provide satellite Internet services.

The company applied for authorization to the Communications Commission on July 8, 2022.

Starlink Georgia is now preparing to start practical activities in the country.

In accordance with the terms of the authorization, SpaceX will provide high-speed broadband Internet services in Georgia through Starlink satellite systems.

At the end of last month, the representative of SpaceX visited the Communications Commission, where together with the employees of the Communications Commission, they discussed the launch of the project. 

Starlink is one of the world’s most advanced satellite broadband Internet systems, providing high-speed, low-latency broadband Internet access around the world, including in areas where Internet connectivity is unreliable, poor quality, or completely unavailable.

SpaceX has launched more than 2,700 Starlink low-orbit (LEO) satellites to date.

Starlink is especially important and interesting in mountainous regions as well as in settlements without broadband internet coverage. 

After the introduction of Starlink, high-speed Internet access will be available to anyone in all such geographical areas.
