Urmas Reinsalu, the foreign minister of Estonia on Tuesday tweeted his country was ready to ensure medical expertise”to treat” currently imprisoned former president of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili.

“We are concerned over the health of the former President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili and call for an opportunity for him to receive treatment abroad. Estonia is ready to provide medical expertise to help treat him. This step is also important for reducing polarisation in society”, the foreign official said.

The members of the United National Movement opposition party founded by Saakashvili and the legal team of the former official claimed Poland was also ready to accept Saakashvili, who was arrested in Tbilisi in October 2021 and is now serving his six-year-term for abuse of power while in office.
