EU ambassador urges Georgian political leaders to listen to people

Pawel Herczynski, the European Union Ambassador to Georgia, on Tuesday called on Georgian political leaders to listen to the public and do what the population are asking from them in his Europe Day messages. 

 

The diplomat said joining the bloc required “strong political will and meeting the 12-point conditions” outlined by the EU last year for granting its membership candidate status to the country by the end of this year.  

 

“Georgia has never been so close to the EU as now, and the doors of the EU have never been so wide open for Georgia as now. We are connected by a long history of close and successful cooperation”, said the ambassador. 

 

He noted the country’s foreign partners had witnessed “enormous progress” achieved by Georgia over the years, with the country’s population having “repeatedly proved that it is a peace-loving, free, brave and hospitable people with an ancient history, a great culture and rich traditions”.
