Johannes Hahn, the European Commissioner for Budget and Administration, has said earlier today that Ukraine would need an ‘updated’ Marshall Plan for reconstruction after the Russian military invasion of the country.

“I think that what we need for Ukraine, at the end of the day, is an updated model of the Marshall Plan,” Hahn told the press.

The Commissioner noted the assistance would contribute to a quick recovery of Ukraine, but refrained from giving an estimate of how much money would be required.

The Marshall Plan was a US initiative to assist Western Europe following the Second World War.
