The European Union representation in Georgia on Monday denounced the opening of polling stations for the Russian presidential elections in the occupied regions of Georgia Abkhazia and Tskhinvali (South Ossetia) without the consent of the Georgian government.

“The European Union remains steadfastly committed to upholding the sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity of Georgia,” emphasized the mission.

The Russian presidential elections took place from March 15 to 17, with so-called election precincts also being established in the occupied territories of Tskhinvali and Abkhazia.
