Paweł Herczyński, the European Union Ambassador to Georgia, on Tuesday said Georgia’s European integration was a”huge task” and called for unanimity in the process, ahead of the European Council’s decision in December whether to grant Tbilisi candidacy.

“European integration is a huge task. This is a monumental task and everyone has to be involved and everyone has to play their part, unity is absolutely essential. If we look at the state coat of arms of Georgia, it reads Strength is in unity. This is exactly what is needed during European integration”, said the diplomat.

He noted the implementation of the nine conditions raised by the European Commission in November along with its positive recommendation to the Council to grant Tbilisi candidacy for a later stage for opening accession talks was “equally important”.

The conditions cover depolarisation, deoligarchisation talks, as well as several reforms, including judiciary, combating misinformation and ensuring alignment with the bloc’s foreign policy priorities.
