The  European Union’s new Ambassador to Georgia, Pawel Herczynski, has vowed “tireless work” to support Georgia’s integration into the bloc in this “historic” time, when Georgia was granted European perspective by the European Council in June and several months to address 12 conditions to receive the membership candidate status in several months.

“It is an honour, but also a great responsibility for me to be the Ambassador of the European Union to Georgia. My tenure comes at one of the most important moments in EU-Georgia relations. The historic decision by the European Council to grant Georgia the European perspective sets a new reality.

“Together with my team, I will work tirelessly assisting Georgia on its path to the European Union. It is an enormous privilege to have the chance to contribute to this process”, said the new Ambassador. Herczynski has replaced Carl Hartzell to the post, who faced criticism by the ruling Georgian Dream party top figures after the expiration of his term, accusing the former Ambassador of “doing a little” for Georgia’s EU candidacy.
