The European Union Agency for Criminal Justice Cooperation (Eurojust) has confirmed that the United States is withdrawing from the International Centre for the Prosecution of the Crime of Aggression against Ukraine (ICPA), a multinational group dedicated to investigating Russian war crimes.

“Eurojust has been informed by the US authorities that they will no longer continue their involvement in the ICPA,” the agency said in a statement. Despite the withdrawal, Eurojust emphasized that the ICPA will continue its work, supporting national investigations into crimes of aggression related to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

The ICPA was established to hold Russian leadership accountable for crimes classified as aggression under international law. The US decision to step away from the initiative comes at a critical moment in ongoing efforts to prosecute those responsible for the war in Ukraine.
