The European Parliament elections were successfully conducted, marking a crucial step for the European Union in forming its executive power and establishing new structures, according to Ilia Darchiashvili, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia.

Darchiashvili emphasized the importance of these elections, noting that the citizens of Europe had made their voices heard. “This is the essence of democracy – society expressing its views,” he stated. He highlighted that political parties winning various elections had always conveyed specific messages to the public, and the recent changes in the European Parliament were a “clear manifestation” of this democratic principle.

“The population of Europe expressed their message through these elections,” Darchiashvili added, underscoring the significance of the electoral process in reflecting the will of the people.

The European People’s Party (EPP) scored a victory in Sunday’s European Parliament election. The center-right forceis expected to have around 184 lawmakers in Parliament, a quarter of the 720 in the hemicycle.
