In a recent decision, the European Parliament has resolved to open an office in Kyiv, in the backdrop of Russia’s ongoing aggression against Ukraine, a move that is expected to enhance support for Ukraine, as reported by Euractiv.

The decision was made to facilitate closer cooperation with the Ukrainian Parliament and strengthen ties with the highest authorities in Ukraine, at the request of the leadership of Ukraine’s Parliament and top officials.

The resolution, passed on a Tuesday evening, aims to establish direct links between the European Parliament and the Ukrainian Parliament, as well as enhance communication with relevant committees.

The European Parliament has a representative office for each member state dedicated to assisting their work with partner countries. These offices play a crucial role in facilitating communication, organizing events, and fostering connections with local media.

The report also mentioned that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had requested the opening of a representative office during his visit to Lviv on March 4, when he met with the President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola. The issue had also been raised by the Ukrainian Parliament Speaker in April.
