Giorgi Gakharia, former Prime Minister and leader of the For Georgia opposition party, on Monday criticized the current Georgian Dream government for prioritizing their power over the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. According to Gakharia, the government had refused to support an OSCE statement because it included a demand for fair elections.

“The OSCE statement, which the Georgian authorities criminally did not vote for, called for the fulfillment of the 2008 conditions for the country’s sovereignty, the peaceful restoration of territorial integrity, and demands on Russia,” Gakharia said. “They did not sign or vote for it solely because the resolution also called for democratic, competitive elections”.

Gakharia emphasized that the resolution “perfectly articulated” support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and urged Russia to leave Georgian territory. He accused the government of committing an “anti-national act” by not voting for the resolution.
