Imprisoned former president Mikheil Saakashvili may attend a trial hearing later on Monday following reports by his lawyer and a domestic non-governmental organization head over his alleged intoxication.

Saakashvili’s lawyer Shota Tutberidze said on Monday that his client may appear in court.

The case concerns illegal crossing of the border by Saakashvili in September of the last year, prior to his arrest in Tbilisi last October after eight years in self-imposed political exile.
