Ex-pres. Saakashvili’s mother thanks clinic head, personnel for “daily care” to her son

Giuli Alasania, mother of convicted former president Mikheil Saakashvili, on Friday thanked the head of Vivamedi civilian clinic – where the former official has been undergoing treatment since May – Nino Nadiradze and the medical personnel of the clinic for their “daily care” to her son. 

Responding to the footage recently released by the country’s justice ministry, which shows Saakahsvili abusing the medical personnel, Alasania claimed Saakashvili enjoyed “positive relations” with the clinic’s staff, stressing his aggression was caused “as he is unfairly imprisoned”. 

Expressing gratitude to the Ukrainian authorities for their “continuous support” for Saakashvili, Alasania described her son as a “special citizen of Ukraine”. 

“He still remains in a high post in Ukraine. Despite hardship, Ukrainians have never stopped their efforts to ensure support for my son”, she said. 

Before his arrest in Tbilisi in October 2021, Saakashvili, as a citizen of Ukraine, chaired the executive committee of the Ukrainian national reforms council.
