Convicted former president Mikheil Saakashvili took to Facebook on Monday to dismiss reports by his lawyer over his alleged poisoning, stating that he had never suspected this and “never told” any of his lawyers.

In his post Saakahsvili expressed gratitude to Vivamedi doctors in Tbilisi, where he had been undergoing treatment since May, the former top official stressed that his health had deteriorated much over the past two months.

Saakashvili’s lawyer Valeri Gelbaklhiani cited a report by foreign experts on Saturday, which had “pointed to the poisoning” of the former president.

Responding to the claims, the special penitentiary survivor said on Saturday they had received “no official document” over the suspicion.

Justice minister Rati Bregadze said his body would address the forensics bureau on Monday to conduct an examination.
