A significant explosion has triggered a large fire at the Gazpromneft-ONPZ oil refinery in Omsk, Russia, according to reports circulating on local social media and Telegram channels.

The blast, which was reportedly heard across multiple parts of the city, occurred at the refinery’s AVT-11 unit – a key facility used for oil processing. The fire has since spread across an area of approximately 1,000 square meters, according to the news outlet Baza.

Videos shared online show towering flames and thick smoke rising from the site. The cause of the explosion remains unclear, and there is no information yet on the extent of the damage or any potential casualties.

Gazpromneft-ONPZ is one of Russia’s largest oil refining enterprises, processing around 22 million tons of oil annually.
