The Revenue Service of Georgia has announced that vendors affected by the recent fire at Tbilisi’s Station Square Market will be exempted from tax obligations on goods and materials destroyed in the blaze.

According to the agency, the write-off of these destroyed inventory items means that the affected individuals will not incur any tax liabilities related to those losses.

The Revenue Service has stated its readiness to process applications submitted through the taxpayer’s authorized page on their system, under the section for declaring inventory losses due to force majeure. The applications must be related to goods destroyed during the fire on April 30, 2025. The service will carry out the write-off procedure within 10 business days, free of charge.

The fire, which broke out around 6:00 AM on Wednesday, burned approximately 15,000 square meters of the market area. Vendors reported that the blaze spread rapidly and engulfed storage facilities containing second-hand clothing, fruits and vegetables, and various other goods.
