The process of vaccination against COVID-19 with Oxford/AstraZeneca (Covishield) vaccine provided by the Ministry of Health has begun in Kiev.
According to UNIAN, the vaccination process was broadcast live on the TV channel "Kiev".
The first vaccinated was the head of the infectious resuscitation department of the Alexander Clinical Hospital Alexei Kutsenko.
Kutsenko said that after the vaccination, he felt "normal".
"As always, there are no bad feelings … Yesterday I told my family that I would be vaccinated. The day before yesterday I myself learned that I would be vaccinated. I had no question at all whether to do it or not. We have been treating patients with COVID-19 for a year now. The first patient in our intensive care unit was on March 20. The first death was recorded on April 6. It all grew like an avalanche, and now every day we see human grief, human tragedies, so there is no choice at all whether to be vaccinated or not to be vaccinated," – he said.
The doctor is convinced that in order to bring down the flurry of COVID-19, mass vaccination of the population is needed.
He also added that he had already been ill with COVID-19 in a mild form in November 2020.
"Immunity has formed, but I recently did an ELISA test for immunoglobulins G – they fell sharply, I don't think I miscalculated (with vaccination), and I think that everyone should do this," – the doctor said.
